Bahrain Denounces White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting

(MENAFN) Bahrain has denounced a shooting incident at the White House correspondents’ dinner in Washington, DC, on Saturday evening, an event attended by President Donald Trump, according to a state news agency.

The Foreign Ministry, in a statement, reaffirmed its firm opposition to violence and terrorism in all their forms and manifestations.

The ministry also expressed the kingdom’s solidarity with the United States and its people, praising the alertness and effectiveness of the security personnel, whose rapid response disrupted the attack and resulted in the arrest of the assailant. It further conveyed Bahrain’s wishes for a swift recovery for the injured security officer.

The incident occurred at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the annual dinner was underway, leading to the evacuation of Trump, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other senior officials.

A 31-year-old suspect, identified as Cole Thomas Allen, is currently in custody. Authorities are continuing their investigation into his background and potential motives, according to media reports.

Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said the suspect “will be arraigned on Monday in federal district court.”
